Announcing Our Pregnancy

Posted on May 1 2015 - 6:04pm by ADS

As soon as we found out that we were expecting, Rob and I agreed that it was important that we wait a while before announcing to friends and family. It was much harder than I anticipated to keep such a huge secret!

We occupied our time with deciding how we would announce to immediate family. We finally settled on creating small 4×4 announcement boxes that would feature a cardboard onesie, an ultrasound photo of the baby, our favorite announcement photos we had taken, and a message announcing their new ‘title.’ Take a look at the images below…

Pregnancy Announcement Boxes

Here was our announcement timeline:

April 5th (Easter): 10 Weeks Pregnant – Announce to Amanda’s parents at Easter Dinner.
The reaction from my mom was priceless. Once she realized what the lid of the box said, she screamed and jumped up from her seat. She hugged me and cried for several minutes before letting me go and resuming dinner.

April 12th:  11 Weeks Pregnant – Rob’s parents, both our siblings, and Maddy would all receive their announcement boxes.
Again, the reaction to the announcement boxes went over incredibly well! Everyone was so happy for us! Maddy made it very clear that she would prefer to have a little sister, but she would be happy either way.

April 23rd: 12 Weeks 4 Days Pregnant – Announce publicly on social media.  We had a very successful doctors appointment this morning where we heard the heartbeat (158 BPM), saw the baby, and were told that everything looks great. We couldn’t wait any longer to share the news! Take a look at the photos we posted online below…
The love, congratulations, and well wishes that we received from friends and family when we publicly announced our news was overwhelming! Baby Shown is going to be so loved and spoiled.

Congratulations! (I came across your blog while researching Dr. Roeder on Babycenter and have been reading about your reversal journey.) The announcement is so creative, what a great idea. I especially love the shoes next to the sonogram pic, just precious. God bless!

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found my blog while doing your research. Are you planning to use Dr. Roeder? He is a dear, sweet man. We emailed him to tell him about our pregnancy, and he replied with a hand written note sent to our home to congratulate us! I wish you all the luck in the world as you begin your journey. There will be struggles, but there will also be pure joy once you reach the other side. Please keep me updated!

Thanks, we’re still researching the best options. I’m 38 and my husband is 43, we have 4 daughters together. He had a vasectomy 7 yrs ago, we strongly felt our family was complete. Last year we began to have a change of heart, but my husband has some health concerns, so we’re going make his dr says he’s okay for surgery before we move forward. Hopefully our ages won’t be too much of a hurdle, but at least we’ll be putting things back on God’s hands.
